Remembering Unsung Heroes, Krantiteerth, Jammu
Krantiteerth was organized in Jammu on 4th August 2023 celebrating and remembering the unsung heroes, organizations and places in India that contributed to the freedom movement. Professor Rajiv Ratan General Secretary JKPS formally welcome the guests and dignitaries. Professor Virendra Koundal briefed everyone about Krantiteerth and said that it is a campaign of national awakening. We are paying homage to you to those immortal sacrifices and remembering the brave freedom fighters who sacrificed everything for the sake of freedom of Bharat from the British rule. Many such heroes are missing from the text books and Krantiteerth is a small attempt to remember them.
Dr Gautam Mengi was the special guest of the program. He said that Jammu Kashmir has been the land of sacrifices. The patriotic people of Jammu and Kashmir have always made supreme sacrifices for the unity, integrity, security and peace of the country. It is our duty to remember those heroes and pay sincere thanks to them. He emphasized that Krantiteerth was a timely and wonderful initiative to achieve this purpose. He remembered the sacrifices made during freedom movement of Bharat and narrated important incidents and contribution of freedom fighters of Jammu and Kashmir.
Shri Ashutosh Bhatnagar from Jammu Kashmir Study Center, was main speaker of the program. He said that Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi was an initiative of the Government to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of independence of Bharat and glorious history of its people, culture and achievements. He said that this was a movement dedicated to all the people who sacrificed their lives but remained unknown & unsung.
While presiding over the function of Prof Umesh Rai Vice-chancellor University of Jammu said that Krantiteerth is a wonderful initiative to remember heroes, places and organizations. He insisted that we cannot forget the great role and sacrifices of freedom fighters. They are legends and will remain the source of inspiration for the coming generation. Prof Rai requested the youth to come forward and take challenges being faced by the nation and work for all round development of the country.
